The Air Force Research Laboratory leads the discovery, development and integration of affordable warfighting technologies for our air, space and cyberspace forces.
The grant program focuses on conducting medical research aimed at optimizing the warfighter’s capabilities. It supports studies that ensure the medical availability of Airmen by analyzing various attributes and operational environments that affect performance. These studies aim to identify and mitigate stressors in the operational environment—including those that are chemical, physical, psychological, biological, and radiological—to optimize Airmen’s health and performance. Specifically, the grant looks to understand how the flight environment impacts life processes, homeostasis maintenance, and the risk for injury or secondary insults, with the goal of improving outcomes for Airmen engaged in critical missions.
