The Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) is a component of the U.S. Department of Justice. OVW implements the provisions of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and provides national leadership on the issues of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking.
The Enhancing Investigation and Prosecution (EIP) Initiative aims to support and enhance law enforcement and prosecutorial efforts in effectively addressing domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. It seeks to expand and improve the capacity of law enforcement agencies and prosecutors' offices, promoting victim safety and autonomy, holding offenders accountable, and enhancing trust within communities. Funded by the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023, this initiative encourages innovative approaches to investigation and prosecution of these crimes.
