The Office of Elementary and Secondary Education (OESE) works to improve the achievement of students in preschool through secondary school. The office also works to ensure equal education opportunities for all, and to provide assistance to state and local schools.
The SBMH program aims to increase the number of qualified school-based mental health service providers in State educational agencies (SEAs), local educational agencies (LEAs), and consortia of LEAs. This initiative focuses on serving students in areas with demonstrated needs through competitive grants, enhancing mental health services availability within educational settings.
