The Office of Elementary and Secondary Education (OESE) works to improve the achievement of students in preschool through secondary school. The office also works to ensure equal education opportunities for all, and to provide assistance to state and local schools.
The Braille Training program is designed to offer financial assistance to support the development and implementation of training in braille for personnel involved in vocational rehabilitation or educational services for youth and adults who are blind. The program focuses on providing training in braille, developing braille training materials, creating methods for teaching braille, and promoting activities that enhance the knowledge and use of braille and non-visual access technology for the blind community.
