The grant program aims to establish a center for independent living in American Samoa to enhance the availability and quality of independent living services. This initiative seeks to bolster the network of centers dedicated to providing crucial support for individuals with disabilities. The core services mandated by the grant include: Information and referral, Independent Living skills training, Peer counseling, Individual and systems advocacy, and Services that facilitate transitions from institutional settings to community living, support for those at risk of institutionalization, and assist youth in transitioning to postsecondary life. The program has earmarked an estimated total of $159,762 for the establishment of this center.
