The Administration for Community Living (ACL) supports the needs of the aging and disability populations, and improves access health care and long-term services.
The grant focuses on achieving economic security and mobility for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Its main purposes include aiding transition youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities, funding employment and postsecondary education opportunities, and assisting with assistive technology devices needed to help meet employment goals. The grant supports projects that work toward specified performance measures related to policy change, leadership roles for individuals with ID/DD and their families, increased knowledge of supports to achieve desired life outcomes, and access to data resources. These measures include the number of policies changed, the participation in policy advocacy activities, the creation and sharing of policy products, the development and dissemination of tools and resources for leadership, the reporting of new leadership skills, and the creation and sharing of resources to increase knowledge of supports, among others.
