Overview

The Projects of National Significance (PNS) within the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act are dedicated to protecting the rights and preventing abuse for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. These projects aim to empower individuals with developmental disabilities to fully engage and participate in community life and influence the development of national and state policies. These policies should support the self-determination, independence, productivity, and community integration and inclusion of individuals with developmental disabilities. The grants focus on changing policies to improve experiences for people with ID/DD and their families, fostering new or increased leadership roles among these individuals and their families, enhancing knowledge of supports to help them achieve their life goals, and increasing access to data resources.
