ATSDR protects communities from harmful health effects related to exposure to natural and man-made hazardous substances.
The grant seeks to support the Pediatric Environmental Health Unit (PEHSU) program, designed as a network for providing evidence-based advice on health effects due to environmental exposures, specifically during reproduction and pediatric stages. The program will use five strategies: education for healthcare professionals, community outreach, consultations, referrals, and partnerships. The goal is to enhance the PEHSU network's effectiveness through collaboration between ATSDR, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the PEHSU National Program Office (NPO), which manages the PEHSU network's daily operations.
