    Overview

The goal of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 Building Communities of Recovery (BCOR) program is to enhance the recovery support infrastructure by mobilizing and connecting community resources. This initiative aims to support individuals with substance use disorders (SUD) and co-occurring substance use and mental disorders (COD) by improving the availability and quality of long-term recovery support services (RSS). This involves supporting the development, enhancement, expansion, and delivery of RSS directly to individuals and promoting and educating communities about recovery. Programs are expected to be led by individuals with lived experience of recovery from SUD and COD, ensuring that project activities are closely aligned with the needs and characteristics of the communities served. The overarching objectives are to prevent substance use and overdose, bolster the behavioral health workforce, facilitate the integration of behavioral health and physical healthcare, and enhance long-term recovery through tailored support and community-level recovery initiatives.
