Invest in and advance agricultural research, education, and extension to solve societal challenges.
The Equipment Grant Program (EGP) aims to enhance the quality and broaden the scope of fundamental and applied research in the fields of food and agricultural sciences at higher education institutions, including State Cooperative Extension Systems. It does this by providing opportunities for these institutions to acquire major pieces of equipment or instruments that are pivotal for research, training, and extension pursuits but are typically too expensive or unsuitable for funding through other NIFA grant programs. The grant is specifically focused on upgrading infrastructure by funding singular, significant items of equipment that directly support the institution's research capabilities, as opposed to funding entire labs or suites of equipment for concurrent experiments, operation, maintenance of facilities, or the research activities themselves.
