    Overview

The Conservation Technical Assistance: Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative (GLCI) Cooperative Agreements support the broad goal of expanding the delivery of conservation technical assistance. This initiative focuses on aiding grazing planning, conservation practice implementation, and monitoring. It also supports conferences, education, demonstrations, producer networks, workforce training, research, and outreach projects aimed at improving agricultural resilience. The program has several key objectives:

    • Increase managed grazing acreage nationwide that addresses natural resource concerns.
    • Boost the availability of climate-smart grazing land technical assistance, specifically for historically underserved farmers, ranchers, and Native American tribal governments.
    • Establish new and expand existing grazing networks, including direct financial support for mentors aiding new, beginning, or transitioning farmers and ranchers in grazing.
    • Grow the grazing community to include minority producers and partner with institutions such as 1890, 1994, and Hispanic-serving Land Grant Institutions.
    • Ensure strong participation from minority producers in new and existing grazing coalitions.
