We deliver conservation solutions so agricultural producers can protect natural resources and feed a growing world.
The Agricultural Management Assistance (AMA) grant program is designed to support agricultural producers in managing financial risk through diversification, marketing, or natural resource conservation practices. Administered by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) for its conservation provisions, the grant also involves the Agricultural Marketing Service and Risk Management Agency for production diversification and marketing provisions. It includes financial assistance covering up to 75 percent of the cost of implementing conservation practices, with a cap of $50,000 per participant per fiscal year. The program promotes activities such as constructing or improving water management or irrigation structures, planting trees for windbreaks or water quality improvement, soil erosion control, integrated pest management, and transitioning to organic farming. It also offers higher cost-share rates for historically underserved producers, while making them aware that they are bound by the Adjusted Gross Income provisions but not by Highly Erodible Land and Wetland Conservation provisions of the Food Security Act of 1985.
