We deliver conservation solutions so agricultural producers can protect natural resources and feed a growing world.
The Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) supports agricultural and forest landowners in enhancing their conservation efforts to ensure both environmental benefits and improved operation efficiency. The program encourages participants to continue and expand upon their existing conservation measures by providing technical and financial support. This encompasses a wide range of activities aimed at improving soil health, water and air quality, and wildlife habitat, while also addressing agricultural challenges like grazing conditions and crop resiliency. CSP is designed to recognize and reward those who are already making efforts toward sustainable land management and conservation practices. Special emphasis is placed on climate-smart practices with additional funding through the CSP-IRA, under the Inflation Reduction Act, emphasizing the program’s commitment to addressing current environmental challenges. CSP contracts, which last for five years with the possibility of renewal, offer participants financial incentives based on maintaining and enhancing conservation efforts. The program is particularly focused on working lands and is noted for being the largest conservation program in the United States, offering benefits like enhanced resiliency to weather and market changes, reduced need for agricultural inputs, and improved wildlife habitat conditions.
