    Type of Support

    Overview

The Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) supports farmers and land managers in enhancing their conservation efforts to improve agricultural operation sustainability. The CSP encourages practices leading to healthier soil, cleaner water and air, and better wildlife habitats, by providing technical and financial assistance for implementing conservation activities. Participants receive annual payments for maintaining and implementing conservation practices, with options for higher payment rates through bundled enhancements. The program emphasizes the importance of working lands in conservation and offers five-year contracts to support long-term environmental benefits and agricultural resilience. Benefits highlighted include enhanced resilience to weather and market fluctuations, reduced need for inputs, and improved conditions for wildlife habitats.
