    Overview

This grant program provides affordable funding for the development of essential community facilities in primarily rural areas. It aims to support the orderly development of communities with no more than 20,000 residents, including those on Federally Recognized Tribal Lands, according to the latest U.S. Census Data. The funds are available for purchasing, constructing, and improving facilities, as well as for buying equipment and covering related expenses. Eligible facilities encompass a broad range including health care, public, community support, public safety, educational, utility services, and local food systems. Grant assistance is provided on a graduated scale based on community size and median household income, with maximum assistance ranging from 15 percent to 75 percent of eligible project costs, incentivizing projects in smaller communities with lower median household incomes.
