    Type of Support

    Overview

This program offers affordable funding to support the development of essential community facilities in rural areas. An eligible area includes rural cities, villages, townships, towns, and Federally Recognized Tribal Lands with no more than 20,000 residents, as indicated by the latest U.S. Census Data. The funding can be utilized for purchasing, constructing, and improving essential community facilities, as well as for buying equipment and covering related project expenses. Essential community facilities might encompass health care facilities, public facilities, community support services, public safety services, educational services, and utility services, including but not limited to hospitals, town halls, fire departments, libraries, and equipment for telemedicine. Additionally, the program supports local food systems like community gardens and food banks. Grant assistance is provided on a graduated scale based on the community size and median household income, with smaller and lower-income communities eligible for a higher proportion of grant funds.
