    Overview

This grant program aims to provide affordable funding for the development of essential community facilities in rural areas. It targets rural communities with no more than 20,000 residents, including Federally Recognized Tribal Lands. The program supports a wide variety of projects, including the construction or improvement of healthcare facilities, public safety services, educational services, public facilities, community support services, utility services, and local food systems. Funding can be used for purchasing, constructing, and improving facilities, as well as buying equipment and covering related project expenses. Grant assistance is determined on a graduated scale, benefitting smaller communities with low median household incomes the most, and is limited to certain percentages of the project costs based on the population size and median household income of the community.
