We are committed to helping improve the economy and quality of life in rural America.
This grant program provides affordable funding for the development of essential community facilities in rural areas. An essential community facility is one that provides a crucial service essential for the local community's orderly development in primarily rural areas, excluding private, commercial, or business undertakings. Eligible areas for this program are rural areas including cities, villages, townships, towns, and Federally Recognized Tribal Lands with no more than 20,000 residents. The program supports a wide range of facilities including healthcare, public facilities, community support services, public safety, educational services, utility services, and local food systems. Funding can be used for purchasing, constructing, and/or improving these facilities, as well as for purchasing necessary equipment and covering related project expenses. Grant approval and the amount of grant assistance provided fluctuate based on the population size and median household income of the community, encouraging projects in smaller, lower-income communities by offering them a higher proportion of grant funds.
