    Overview

This program aims to provide affordable funding to develop essential community facilities in primarily rural areas. It supports the development of facilities that offer essential services for the orderly development of the community. Eligible areas are rural communities, including Federally Recognized Tribal Lands, with no more than 20,000 residents. Funding can be used for purchasing, constructing, improving essential community facilities, buying equipment, and covering related expenses. Facilities supported include healthcare, public services, community support services, public safety services, educational services, utility services, and local food systems. Grant assistance is provided on a graduated scale, prioritizing smaller communities with the lowest median household income, covering up to a maximum of 75 percent of eligible project costs for the smallest and most financially challenged communities.
