    Type of Support

    Overview

This grant program aims to provide affordable funding for the development of essential community facilities in rural areas. It supports facilities that offer vital services to the local community for its orderly development in primarily rural areas, excluding private, commercial, or business undertakings. Eligible areas are rural communities including cities, villages, townships, towns, and Federally Recognized Tribal Lands with no more than 20,000 residents. The funds can be used for various purposes including the purchase, construction, improvement of essential community facilities, and purchase of necessary equipment. Examples of such facilities include healthcare facilities, public facilities, community support services, public safety services, educational services, utility services, and local food systems. Grant approval is on a graduated scale based on the community's population and median household income, allowing smaller communities with lower income to be eligible for a higher proportion of grant funds.
