We are committed to helping improve the economy and quality of life in rural America.
The grant program is designed to aid eligible communities in preparing for or recovering from emergencies that threaten the availability of safe, reliable drinking water. This encompasses a broad range of emergencies, including natural disasters like droughts, floods, earthquakes, severe weather conditions (tornadoes or hurricanes), disease outbreaks, and chemical spills. It specifically seeks to provide support through two types of grants: water transmission line grants, which can offer up to $150,000 for constructing waterline extensions, repairing breaks or leaks, and necessary maintenance to replenish water supply; and water source grants, which can offer up to $1,000,000 for constructing water sources, intakes, or treatment facilities. The program aims to mitigate damage or restore clean, reliable drinking water access in rural areas and towns affected by natural disasters, ultimately enhancing the natural environment and promoting business growth in these regions. Applications are accepted year-round through an online platform or local RD offices.
