This program provides grants to qualified organizations to support local self-help housing construction projects in rural areas. It aims to assist groups of very-low- and low-income individuals and families to construct their own homes by contributing most of the construction labor themselves, with technical assistance provided by the overseeing organization. Eligible uses of funds include offering technical and supervisory assistance to participating families, aiding other organizations in providing self-help technical and supervisory assistance, and activities related to family recruitment, loan application assistance, and participation facilitation.
