This program offers grants to qualified organizations aiming to facilitate self-help housing construction projects in rural areas. These projects involve very-low- and low-income individuals and families who contribute significantly to the construction labor of their own homes under the supervision and with the technical guidance of the overseeing organization. Eligible areas for these projects can be determined using the USDA Eligibility Site. The grants can be utilized for several purposes including providing technical and supervisory assistance to participating families, supporting other entities in offering similar assistance, and aiding in the recruitment of families and the completion of necessary loan applications.
