We are committed to helping improve the economy and quality of life in rural America.
This grant program is designed to support organizations in undertaking local self-help housing construction projects aimed at very-low- and low-income individuals and families. It emphasizes a collective effort, where groups of families and individuals come together to provide most of the construction labor on each other’s houses under the supervision and technical guidance of the recipient organization. The projects are carried out in rural areas, with the grants facilitating technical and supervisory assistance, recruitment of families, assistance in loan application processes, and other related activities to participate in the program. Eligible areas for the projects can be determined using the USDA Eligibility Site.
