    Overview

The Rural Business Development Grant (RBDG) program has two main types of funding: Opportunity grants and Enterprise grants. The broad goal of this program is to support the growth and development of small and emerging businesses in rural areas. Specifically, the program seeks to provide financial assistance for a wide range of activities, including but not limited to, training and technical assistance, land and facility development, pollution control, capitalization of revolving loan funds, distance learning for job training, transportation improvements, economic development projects, technology advancements, feasibility studies, leadership training, and the establishment of rural business incubators. Opportunity grants are capped at 10 percent of the total annual funding and focus on a subset of these activities, particularly those that support community economic development and strategic planning efforts.
