    Overview

The Rural Business Development Grant program aims to support the development and growth of small and emerging businesses in rural areas. It focuses on projects that benefit rural businesses with fewer than 50 employees and less than $1 million in gross revenue. The grant encourages activities such as training and technical assistance, land development, construction, pollution control, the capitalization of revolving loan funds, job training, transportation improvement, community economic development, technology enhancement, feasibility studies, leadership training, business incubators, and strategic planning. There are two types of grants under this program: Opportunity grants, allocated a maximum of 10% of the annual funding, for community and technology development, among other uses, and Enterprise grants, which support a wider range of initiatives aimed at benefiting small and emerging rural businesses.
