    Overview

The Creative Aging grants program aims to provide skill-based artistic instruction combined with opportunities for social engagement and community building among older adults through the arts. This grant supports nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status—ranging from arts organizations to social service entities—engaging older adults (aged 60 and over) in activities led by experienced teaching artists. Organizations may request up to $6,000 to fund these activities, which are supported partly by the E.A. Michelson Foundation and the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies. The grants underscore a learning model, prioritizing artistic skill development, sustained and structured arts instruction, deepened social engagement, and the employment of teaching artists, including seniors, to implement arts programs tailored to older adults' needs and interests.
