Waco Foundation is committed to strengthening the organizations and groups that carry out innovative ideas and major services in the community by investing in capacity building. This initiative is rooted in the belief that organizations more thoroughly prepared in planning their work are better equipped to enhance the community's quality of life. The Foundation acknowledges varying levels of readiness and preparation among those entering nonprofit work and aims to support the development of nonprofit staff and boards in McLennan County.
Waco Foundation's grant-making activities are both proactive and responsive, aiming to impact the local quality of life positively. These activities emphasize fostering equitable experiences, helping people escape poverty, supporting unique and critical community projects, increasing the nonprofit sector's capacity, and aiding vulnerable populations. The Foundation’s Immediate Impact Grants provide support for projects that enhance neighborhood attractiveness, vitality, community engagement, support to vulnerable residents, and foster an inclusive community. Projects could include neighborhood planning, community gatherings, training for community-led projects, small neighborhood improvements, neighborhood gardens for healthier food access, collaborative efforts to address poverty, and initiatives to strengthen local entrepreneurship.
