The West Elk Community Fund, in partnership with the Western Colorado Community Foundation, aims to serve as a permanent charitable endowment benefiting the people of Paonia, Crawford, Hotchkiss, and the surrounding regions. It focuses on fostering community growth and support by funding local nonprofits and improvement projects, ensuring long-term investment in the area's welfare.
The T.R.U.E. Fund supports local nonprofit organizations and community improvement projects in Carbondale, Glenwood Springs, and New Castle through a competitive grant application process. Managed by a local steering committee that reviews applications annually, funds are distributed in November for use in projects the following year. Since 2017, it has provided $68,250 in grants to help nonprofit initiatives in these communities.
