    Overview

The Surface Water Grant Program is designed to support a comprehensive approach to surface water management. It assists various qualified organizations, including lake associations, river management organizations, and nonprofit conservation groups, in efforts ranging from outreach and assessments to planning, project design, and direct management activities. The program focuses on two primary categories: Education & Planning Projects that aim to improve community understanding, set management goals, and develop strategic plans for surface water; and Management Projects that focus on protecting and improving water quality and aquatic habitat, as well as preventing and controlling aquatic invasive species. Eligibility and application processes are structured with specific deadlines for inquiries, pre-proposals, and full proposals to ensure applicants are well prepared.
