The Witter Bynner Foundation for Poetry is dedicated to supporting established and emerging poets, translators of poetry, and programs that foster awareness of poetry and its significance in American culture.
The Witter Bynner Foundation for Poetry aims to perpetuate the art of poetry and promote its role in American culture. It encourages proposals that increase the awareness of poetry's positive societal impacts. The grant program supports individual poets, the translation and process of translation of poetry, the development of poetry audiences, and uses of poetry that benefit the public good. Priority is given to projects that can serve as models for other organizations, including work with youth-at-risk, minorities, people with disabilities, and in therapeutic contexts. Grants are capped at $10,000 and may be awarded for up to three years, after which a three-year waiting period is required before reapplying.
