The Community Food Security Through Gardening Grant, funded by the legacy gift of Gerald and Kathryn Freeley, aims to tackle food security issues in Alaska by supporting gardening projects. This grant program prioritizes projects that provide safe, nutritious, and local food access to all individuals promoting healthy lifestyles. Funded by the Alaska Community Foundation (ACF), it will award ten projects with $10,000 each, focusing on initiatives within Alaska, with special attention given to projects based in the Mat-Su region. Successful applicants will have the opportunity for an additional grant in 2025 if they meet ongoing requirements. The selection criteria for applications include alignment with the goal of enhancing food security, concrete measures of success, a hands-on approach, collaboration with partner organizations, and sustainability.
