ARIT supports and administers fellowship programs for scholarly research and Turkish language study, aimed at scholars and graduate students based in the U.S. and Canada. The mission centers on promoting individual projects in all fields of the humanities and social sciences, focusing on ancient, historical, and modern times in Turkey.
The ARIT fellowship programs, including the ARIT National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship programs and the ARIT Summer Language Program at Boğazici University, are designed to support research in all periods of history in any field of the humanities and social sciences. These grants, open to graduate students and post-doctoral researchers, aim to facilitate studies that must be conducted in Turkey. Offering tenures up to one academic year, ARIT encourages applications for shorter projects as well. The organization provides stipends ranging from $2,500 to $15,500, research and study facilities, and assistance in networking with colleagues, institutions, and authorities within Turkey through its branch centers in Istanbul and Ankara.
