The designated “Office of Cultural Resources” for the City of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, and six suburban towns focuses on advocacy, cultural education, planning, fundraising, grant making, public art, and workshops for the cultural community. It aims to ensure access to a high-quality, relevant, and sustainable cultural community for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Region by combining local, state, and private resources to maximize community impact.
The Cultural Vision Grant program is focused on supporting arts, science, history, and heritage programming that fosters strong communities and showcases innovative, relevant, and transformative cultural expression in line with the goals outlined in Imagine 2025. It is targeted towards creative individuals or nonprofit organizations in Mecklenburg County, advancing either community building across differences, celebrating authentic cultures and creative expression, addressing complex community issues through arts, science, and history, or supporting the creation of new and groundbreaking work. Successful applicants will demonstrate a commitment to quality, alignment with at least one of the grant’s objectives, and the capacity for successful project completion. Grants can go up to $20,000, with a matching funds requirement. Projects that benefit under-invested populations and engage communities beyond the Center City area in scientific and historic curiosity through participatory experiences are especially encouraged.
