The mission is to support minimally invasive research into the life histories, especially social relations and reproduction, of little-known birds of the continental Neotropics. Established by Dr. and Mrs. Skutch to continue Dr. Skutch's legacy in Neotropical ornithology, the fund aims to encourage studies by Neotropic-based researchers, reflecting Dr. Skutch's significant contributions to the field over sixty years.
The Pamela and Alexander F. Skutch Research Award is designed to promote minimally invasive ornithological research in the continental Neotropics, including Trinidad and Tobago, focusing on the life histories, social relations, and reproduction of less studied bird species. The award gives preference to applicants from the Neotropics and encourages projects that require substantial field observation of birds, aligning with Dr. Skutch's passion for detailed, field-based bird study.
