Founded in 1922, the Australian Coral Reef Society (ACRS) is the world's oldest organization concerned with the study and conservation of Australia’s coral reefs. Their mission revolves around fostering scientific research and promoting understanding and conservation practices for the sustained well-being of coral reefs in Australia.

    Overview

In 2024, the Australian Coral Reef Society (ACRS) will offer Student Research Awards to support the research of up to five students engaged in studies pertinent to Australian coral reefs. The awards aim to foster and fund promising research endeavors among students. The Terry Walker Prize and the Danielle Simmons Prize, each $4,000, recognize outstanding proposals with a focus on field studies on Australian coral reefs and specifically at Heron Island, respectively. Additionally, up to three ACRS research awards, valued at $2,500 each, will be provided for laboratory and/or field studies related to Australian coral reefs. These grants are designed to support the next generation of coral reef researchers by providing financial assistance for field and laboratory work necessary for their studies.
