The mission of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation is to build stronger communities and improve the quality of life for all residents in the areas it serves. This involves supporting various charitable programs and endeavors, including the promotion of education, the arts, and community development.
The "Fresh and Healthy Food for All in Columbia County" grant aims to address three key areas: ensuring people in Columbia County have the necessary knowledge, tools, and capital to access healthy food; making sure an adequate supply of healthy food is available at a reasonable price, especially for households with limited resources; and fostering communication and cooperation among community members, organizations, and businesses to develop shared food solutions. The initiative prioritizes fresh and healthy food that travels minimal food miles and supports households living below 200% of the poverty income level.
