The mission of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation is to build stronger communities and improve the quality of life for all residents in the areas it serves. This involves supporting various charitable programs and endeavors, including the promotion of education, the arts, and community development.
The Gateway Fund supports projects aimed at educational excellence in the North Adams Public Schools (NAPS) in MA. It seeks proposals from a diverse group including students, teachers, administrators, staff, parents, non-profits, and community members for projects that meet its objectives. The fund is open to supporting a wide range of initiatives such as independent studies, new programs, extracurricular activities, individual creative projects, visiting speakers, artists-in-residence, professional development for teachers, and more. Projects are evaluated based on their excellence, impact on the NAPS community, and the applicant's ability to complete the project. Applications are reviewed by a committee and final recommendations are made by Berkshire Taconic’s board of directors.
