Biogen's mission is to harness advanced science to create therapies that transform the lives of people with serious neurological diseases. By focusing on conditions such as Alzheimer’s Disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, and Multiple Sclerosis, Biogen seeks to alleviate the challenges faced by individuals afflicted by these and other neurological disorders.
Biogen Fellowships aim to support clinical fellowship programs at healthcare and academic organizations, focusing on the education and development of future specialists in therapeutic areas where there is an unmet need. The main goal is to enhance comprehensive clinical training programs that improve patient care. Specifically, Biogen is interested in supporting fellowship programs that address Spinal Muscular Atrophy, emphasizing the building of clinical skills, comprehensive and robust training programs, education in Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) competency areas (Patient Care, Medical Knowledge, Practice-Based Learning and Improvement, Interpersonal Communication Skills, Professionalism, System-Based Practice), engagement with multi-disciplinary teams, and adherence to relevant regulations and policies. Fellowship programs should provide a clear development plan for the fellow, focus on enhancing clinical skills, and utilize dedicated faculty. Funding of up to $90,000 per academic year is available to cover salaries and limited fringe benefits of fellows.
