The mission of the BCBSM Foundation is to support community-based health care organizations in Massachusetts by strengthening their capacity to expand access to health care. Through funding from employees of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, the Foundation aims to distribute grants to a diverse range of health centers, clinics, health care advocacy groups, and community-based organizations, thereby facilitating better health services and innovations in health care.
The Supporting Health Coverage Enrollment Efforts grant program is designed to improve the enrollment infrastructure for health coverage within Massachusetts. It specifically targets expanding the workforce of Certified Application Counselors to better assist MassHealth members with re-determining their coverage as pandemic-era protections end, and to aid the uninsured in obtaining coverage. Grants of up to $60,000 a year for two years will be awarded to eligible community-based organizations either looking to augment their current enrollment assistance programs or those aiming to become designated enrollment support entities. Through funding these organizations, the program seeks to amplify outreach and assistance for securing and maintaining essential health insurance coverage.
