The Botstiber Institute for Wildlife Fertility Control (BIWFC) was established to promote the use of effective, sustainable fertility control methods to mitigate human-wildlife conflicts and promote coexistence worldwide. It aims to be a resource center that stimulates discussion, collaboration, and networking; supports fertility control projects through grants; and educates wildlife managers, policy makers, and the public on wildlife fertility control.
In its new phase, BIWFC has adjusted its grantmaking approach, moving away from releasing RFPs and accepting unsolicited proposals to a more targeted method. If an issue aligns with BIWFC’s focus and the organization has the capacity to collaborate, an Executive Summary can be submitted for consideration. This summary must outline the issue’s importance to wildlife fertility control sustainability and the applicant's capacity to address it. BIWFC supports public policy research projects aimed at advancing wildlife fertility control knowledge, acceptance, and implementation globally. This includes supporting seminars, workshops, surveys on public perception, economic and stakeholder analysis, community outreach, and educational publications or documentaries. Selected projects could receive a grant of up to $25,000 to cover direct costs, travel, or other necessary expenses.
