The mission of the California Energy Commission (CEC) focuses on leading the state to a 100% clean energy future. As the state's primary energy policy and planning agency, the CEC is committed to reducing energy costs and environmental impacts of energy use while ensuring a safe, resilient, and reliable supply of energy.
The Carbon Removal Innovation Support Program (CRISP) offers cost share funding to projects that either receive an award under an eligible federal Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) and meet the program’s criteria, or obtain follow-on funding from the U.S. Department of Energy to continue research from a previously awarded federal grant that also received Energy Commission federal cost share funding. This program supports a wide range of projects, from technology research, development, and demonstrations to prototype and pilot research test centers aimed at removing atmospheric carbon. However, projects benefiting petroleum or gas production through enhanced recovery techniques are not eligible.
