The mission of the California Native Plant Society (CNPS) is to conserve California native plants and their natural habitats, and increase understanding, appreciation, and horticultural use of native plants.
The Mary DeDecker Botanical Grant, named after a prominent local botanist, supports research and initiatives that foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of native plants and ecosystems within the Bristlecone Chapter area. The grant program is open to a wide array of subjects from taxonomic or ecological research to the creation and promotion of native plant gardens. Proposals are evaluated based on their relevance to the region's flora, potential to fill existing knowledge gaps, and capacity to enhance public awareness and appreciation of native plants. Preference is given to well-structured proposals with clear objectives and feasible plans for achieving success.
