Civil Society Grants: Enhancing Community Philanthropy

Mott aims to improve transparency, accountability, and social and environmental standards at the international finance institutions that fund major energy and infrastructure projects. This involves working with the financial and environmental sectors globally to ensure projects protect the environment, deliver sustained benefits to communities, and respect the needs of nearby residents. The focus includes influencing the investment patterns of emerging economies, particularly those of Brazil and China.

    Overview

The grant program aims to build vibrant communities capable of leading social change and addressing global challenges through local solutions. It supports the development of community foundations as cornerstones for just, equitable, and sustainable societies, emphasizing the role of these foundations in mobilizing local resources and leading social change. The program has two main objectives: expanding the community foundation field in Africa, Europe, and Latin America, and enhancing the effectiveness and leadership of community foundations, particularly in aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This includes grants for technical assistance, research, learning materials, collaboration platforms, and initiatives focused on the SDGs.
