The mission of the Charlevoix County Community Foundation (C3F) is to enhance the quality of life for all citizens of Charlevoix County, both now and for future generations. It aims to support community improvements by accepting contributions of all sizes, making grants to various organizations, schools, and municipalities to foster positive changes within Charlevoix County.
The Environment and Land Use Cycle by the Charlevoix County Community Foundation is designed to support nonprofit partners in projects and programs focused on environmental and land use initiatives within the Lake Charlevoix Watershed and Charlevoix County. It encourages proposals that include environmental education, protection, restoration, and sustainability efforts, as well as recreational activities offering access to natural resources. Preference is given to projects that demonstrate collaboration, innovation, prevention of problems, and strong community impact without duplicating services. Key criteria for grant approval include the benefit to Charlevoix County's natural resources, alignment with community planning documents, organizational impact, capacity and solvency, contribution to strengthening the organization and/or community, comprehensive planning, and the potential for lasting community benefits. Applicants are encouraged to request funds based on their genuine needs without limitations on the request's size or scope set by the Community Foundation.
