The Children's Theatre Foundation of America challenges and supports theatre artists to achieve excellence in service to young people. It emphasizes the support of theater for youth with a keen focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion, deeming these elements vital to the future of Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA).
These grants and fellowships aim to enhance the field of theatre for children and youth, offering growth opportunities for theatre artists creating work for young audiences, and upholding the mission and values of CTFA while honoring Aurand Harris's intentions. Funding can support theatre or collaboration, including fees for various theatre personnel, equipment purchases, and travel costs for collaborative efforts or anti-racism training. Additionally, individual artists can receive support for personal growth in theatre artistry, impact and awareness of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), and career advancement. Proposals must address the three fellowship growth criteria: artistry development, EDI impact and awareness, and career marketability.
