    Overview

The Food Pantry Assistance Grant aims to increase access to fresh, nutritious, and locally produced food for residents and children in Jeffco, especially during the summer and fall seasons. It involves a provision of $957,000 in funding to 30 Jeffco nonprofits engaged in hunger relief activities, leveraging local food pantries, businesses, and mobile distribution networks. The grant supports purchasing nutritious food, overcoming transportation hurdles, connecting individuals with additional services, and improving the accessibility of food assistance close to where people reside and work. Priority is given to organizations that manage food pantries or banks, offer mobile food assistance, accept WIC or SNAP benefits, commit to buying local produce, and are dedicated to promoting equity and community-led initiatives. This program is designed to assist those most in need and ensure they have access to healthy, locally sourced food.
