Based in Colorado, our focus is removing barriers to employment, opening pathways to meaningful employment and creating opportunities for enterpreneurship.
The Kenneth King Foundation focuses on grants and Program Related Investments that support programs with a proven record in job creation, pathways to self-sufficiency, and entrepreneurship opportunities. It primarily supports Entrepreneurship and Job Creation programs (50% of its giving), Barriers to Employment (25% of its giving), and General Purpose Funding (25% of its giving), including legacy organizations and initiatives in arts, culture, and science. The Foundation is interested in programs that increase skills in high-demand fields, offer training and support for entrepreneurship, provide seed capital with support services for ventures, and enable financial skill-building. Additionally, it aims to place individuals in jobs with living wages through various means such as apprenticeship programs, job training through social enterprises, and financial literacy training. The Removing Barriers to Employment Grant focuses on wraparound services that support people (like emergency assistance and navigation through health care) and are directly connected to training and employment opportunities. Focus populations include individuals experiencing homelessness, low-income single parents, low-income individuals and families, particularly from rural communities, justice-involved individuals, and people with disabilities. Grant amounts typically range from $5,000 to $20,000.
