Colorado Parks and Wildlife aims to advance and balance outdoor recreation with conservation efforts across the state of Colorado. They focus on collaboration and networking to support their mission.
The Habitat Partnership Program (HPP) is designed to address conflicts between livestock and big game, aid in achieving game management objectives, support private land conservation, and enhance migratory corridors. The program fosters partnerships and requires contributors to potentially offer time, money, equipment, and labor, usually matching projects on a 50/50 basis or through a materials/labor arrangement. HPP encourages a variety of projects - from immediate fixes like fence repairs to more complex, long-term habitat improvement projects that include seeding, water development, and creating wildlife-friendly fences. These endeavors aim to improve habitats for big game and livestock, mitigate game damage issues, and promote educational efforts regarding wildlife management and conservation. Additionally, HPP engages in research and monitoring and assists landowners in establishing conservation easements to protect land permanently.
