Our goal is to make our community a better place to live by partnering with compassionate people. We aim to bring donors’ philanthropic vision to life through building endowments that enrich the quality of life in Abilene and surrounding areas. Since 1985, we have awarded more than $100 million in grants to support charitable causes.
The Community Grants program by the Community Foundation of Abilene aims to support various sectors within the community by offering competitive grant cycles each year during the fall and spring. These grants are intended to assist local charitable nonprofit organizations in several areas, including animal services, children and youth, community development, education, fine arts and culture, health and mental health, and human and social services. Funding from these grants, ranging between $5,000 and $35,000—with the possibility of up to $50,000 for capital requests—can cover operating expenses, special projects, innovative programs, capacity building, and capital needs. The Foundation values flexibility in its support, ensuring funds meet the changing needs of the Abilene community and maintains full discretion over its grantmaking decisions.
